We currently live immersed in a world where information is just a click away. Sometimes this can be overwhelming. In this article, we want to summarize and provide you with some considerations to keep in mind when searching for your favorite products.
As we saw in the other blog, the COSMOS Standard emerged from the merger of several independent certification bodies, which sought to establish the same criteria for regulating natural and organic products.
There are 4 basic requirements that are analyzed to certify a product:
- Origin of raw materials
- Formulation and content.
- Type of testing.
- Type of packaging.
But COSMOS goes a little further and differentiates natural cosmetics from organic cosmetics.
The first step is to meet the 4 basic requirements.
If the content of natural ingredients is higher than 95%, the product obtains the COSMOS NATURAL certification.
For products that are phased out (such as shampoo or cleansing gel), if at least 10% of those ingredients are organic, the COSMOS ORGANIC certification is obtained. For products that are not phased out, such as facial cream, the percentage must be 20%.

Now that you have all this information, you can better read the labels of your body care products.
What certifications did you find in your natural products?
